Rebel in rest

I used to be someone who struggled to stay still.  I kept busy because that meant I was achieving.  I worked long hours in my career as a lawyer, working a full week with nights and weekends on top, deep down knowing I was doing too much.

 

Eventually, my body refused to keep going and I was diagnosed with chronic illness. Now I manage my energy differently but when I rest well I can do so much more.  

 

Yoga is a huge part of how I do that and it means I can continue to do the things I need and love to do.  

That is why Nurture Yoga was born. To help and empower you to get good quality, active rest before you need it and rebel against constant productivity.

I have an innate love of movement.

Since I can remember I would experiment with forward folding, shoulder standing, head standing, propping my legs up on the couch. I had a fascination with meditation from early on too, and would spend time alone exploring the practice before I had access to any formal teaching.  As I got older and moved around the country I would dip in and out of classes and would practice at home with my trusted DVD always feeling the pull towards yoga.   

Yoga was firmly rooted in my life when I undertook my 200hrs with Yoga and Co teaching training in lockdown. I have one module left before I complete my 300hrs with Nourish Yoga Training.

I am so grateful to have increased the depth of my understanding of yoga when I did as it is has been invaluable in supporting me through the last few years of my life.

I also work as a Social Prescriber for the NHS and offer yoga to patients within my role as well as Nurture Yoga.

When I'm not teaching you'll find me...

Outside somewhere - up a mountain, in a river, anywhere blue and green.  If I don't get my nature fix I get grumpy and my family know to get me to the nearest tree.  Like now.

And if I'm not outside, you'll find me buried in a book, listening to music or enjoying a great films. These things are my soul food.
